Emily Tapp, a fun-loving, positive, gorgeous person with an amazing zest for life passed away from Melanoma in June of 2006. She was just 27 years of age.
She is missed by so many and her love for life lives on in us all.
The Ripple Effect
One song can spark a moment,
One flower can wake the dream.
One tree can start a forest,
One bird can herald spring.
One smile begins a friendship,
One hand clasp lifts a soul.
One star can guide a ship at sea,
One word can frame the goal.
One vote can change a nation,
One sunbeam lights a room.
One candle wipes the darkness,
One laugh will conquer gloom.
One step must start each journey,
One work must start each prayer.
One hope will raise our spirits,
One touch can show you care.
One voice can speak the wisdom,
One heart can know what’s true.
One life can make the difference,
You see it’s up to YOU!

Dear Parents,
Today’s Sun Awareness Day is a wonderful example yet again, not only for our children but for us all of just how the life of one person can touch and inspire others.
Our Sun Awareness raising week has been inspired by Emily Tapp, the much loved aunty to Eadie Yr 2 and Finnegan in Prep and today typifies how Emily’s love for life lives on, not only touching those whom she knew but touching the many others who are now linked by the wave of knowledge and emotion that Emily unknowingly started.
The Ripple Effect has always been much apart of the ethos of St Ambrose’s. For this, I continue to be both humbled and privileged to be part of a school where our sense of community thrives and grows stronger with our involvement in such community initiatives as the Sun Awareness Day.
As part of today’s activities Lisa Naumann from the Queensland Cancer Council presented to ‘Sid the Seagull’ our school’s Sun Smart sign and also reiterated the Sun Safe message to the children. Jasmine from Channel 9’s Brisbane Extra was on hand to film the presentation which will be part of next Tuesday’s Brisbane Extra story highlighting the importance of remaining vigilant all year with sun safe practices.
Thank you once again to Jude Tapp, Glenda Geeves, Deb Birchley, Deb Darveniza and Jackie Comerford for their efforts in initiating and organising the Sun Awareness Day.
