March for Melanoma 2007 - Hundreds March Toward Awareness and A Cure For Melanoma

The inaugural ‘March for Melanoma’ at Williamstown in 2007 was a staggering success and a massive step forward in The Emily Tapp Melanoma Foundation’s fight against Australia’s ‘most preventable’ cancer. We loose over 1,600 people to this insidious disease each year.

With 1000 attending the days events and over five-hundred people walked, including the entire Western Bulldogs Football Club, gathered at Commonwealth Reserve, Williamstown to take part in the picturesque four-kilometre walk along the foreshore.

Once the walk was over and the sun started to set, plenty of people stayed on for an unforgettable concert featuring rock legend Diesel, Paul Dempsey (Something for Kate), Shane Pullin a close friend of Emily’s and many other Melbourne musical outfits.

All proceeds from the march will go to the Melbourne Melanoma Project at the Peter MacCallum Institute (Melanoma Unite).

The March for Melanoma is the first ever major event for the recently-established Emily Tapp Melanoma Foundation, and it has laid the groundwork for many more events and initiatives in the  Melanomore fight.
